Set in modern Australia, Daniella Murphy yearns to play rugby league, just like her brothers do, but time and time again the idea is rejected. Her grandma says no, her dad doesn't say anything, and the school bully just laughs in her face. But that doesn't stop her. Daniella Murphy is going to play rugby, she just has to figure out how to prove to everyone that it doesn't matter if she's not a boy, she can do it. An empowering sports story about a young girl trying to make her way in what some people still think is a "boy's" world. Determined to pursue her passion, she sets out to show that she's just as capable as the other ... even when she's set back by an accident.
13
Rikki-Lee Arnold has been writing books since the age of seven, when she would spend her Saturday mornings creating worlds and characters while watching Rage and Video Hits. These days, she is also a sports journalist and has worked through her decade-long career at The Courier-Mail and Sunday Mail covering NRL, women's league, tennis, AFLW, cricket and more. Her combined love of writing and sports – particularly women’s sport – has led to her debut middle grade novel, The First Tackle. Rikki-Lee lives in Brisbane with her supportive husband and her two cheeky sons.

Mila likes to build things and is designing a cupcake catapult with her little sister, Ivy. However, things become a problem when Ivy seems to like destroying things more than she does building them. After Mila scolds Ivy for this, she decides to make the catapult on her own. But something's missing. Something that only Ivy can help with. A tale of two sisters where communication could have helped them avoid their conflict, but also shows how sometimes, when someone seems like they're doing the wrong thing, they might just be trying to help or improve things in their own way.

The third book in the Eden series from Cheryl Adam, Africa's Eden is about the choices unmarried women in the 60s had to make and the challenges of finding love in unexpected places. As a young unmarried mother in the 1960s, Maureen faces stifling disapproval and condemnation from mainstream society. Desperate to create a new life for herself and her baby, she rekindles an old romance and moves to South Africa under Apartheid.
But her precarious journey to Africa’s Eden is not the paradise she anticipated. Cultures smash against each other, family relationships are strained, there is death and despair, violence and injustice. But there is also humour, fun, family and friendship, as Maureen has to decide where her future lies. Is it here in Africa or back home in distant Eden, in her Australian homeland?
Previous books by Cheryl Adam have been praised by Carmel Bird, Kristin Henry, Hazel Edwards, Amanda Lohrey and others. Her debut Lillian's Eden was compared favourably to The Dressmaker and Cloudstreet. Each book in the series has wonderfully drawn characters, drama, and humour, as they trace a family's history from the 1950s-70s, highlighting the choices women made in each decade and whose remarkable resilience enabled them to find happiness in sometimes the most unlikely of places.
13
Australian Cheryl Adam spent her childhood in rural Australia where her love of storytelling began. In adulthood, she travelled widely and lived overseas including in Zambia (then Northern Rhodesia), Kenya, South Africa, Norway, Jersey, England and Sweden. She has been evicted, kidnapped, abandoned, made homeless and discriminated against in her foreign adventures and this helped develop her deep empathy for the plight of immigrant women, as for Lillian in this story. In the 1960s, she was deported from Kenya and arrived as an unwanted guest in Sweden. She later moved to South Africa where she lived for thirteen years and had five children before returning to Australia. After her husband’s stroke, she took up study, completing a Masters in Fine Arts at Monash University before taking up writing. In 2018 at the age of 74, her first novel Lillian’s Eden was published. Out of Eden followed in 2021 and Africa’s Eden is the final volume of the Eden trilogy. She lives in Victoria.

Imagine yourself as young servant in the earliest days of the Christian church, find yourself unexpectedly included in the story and see how might you share this good news with others. Rhoda is a busy slave girl in John Mark’s household. Her days are filled with cooking and cleaning, until the day Peter is imprisoned and the followers of Jesus all come over to pray for his release. As the disciples share the Lord’s Supper, Rhoda finds herself unexpectedly drawn in to the action.
Based on the story in Acts 12, David Edgren imagines what it would have been like to become a member of the early Christian church. Written especially for early independent readers, this book explores themes such as conversion, communion and service in a way that appeals to the heart. It is also perfect for family worship, with discussion questions at the end of the book.
Written for ages 5 to 12 with attractive illustrations for families to share.

David Edgren is a storyteller, author and chaplain in Melbourne, Australia. Is there a connection between the Dark Carnival’s arrival in Haven, and the spate of strange sightings and missing pets across the city?
The guardian magic, that lends twelve-year-old Olivia her strength and lets her see in the dark, is slowly turning her to stone. Olivia knows monsters are real, she has the scars and nightmares to prove it. She fights them at night while her parents think she is tucked-up safe in bed.
Together with Yip, the tiny grotesque and Glori, a wingless grave sprite, she has outsmarted a hoard of malevolent trixies, and crushed an infestation of magical spiders. Now, the three unlikely guardians are about to face the most dangerous monster of them all.
They will not be able to win this fight alone.

Ian C Douglas wanted to be a writer from early childhood. An ambition that earned disapproval from his family and teachers. It was not until teaching English at a Thai university, in his thirties, that he plucked up the courage to share his writing. After working as a golfing correspondent, he returned to the UK and graduated with an MA in Creative Writing (distinction). Today, he focusses on speculative fiction. He also writes for the press, as well as for apps and the odd radio play. Workshops, school visits, and mentoring are all part of his writing practice. Ian lives in Robin Hood country with his wife and children.
Ian is also an artist, a teacher and a counsellor. Sci-fi is his first love and his passion for the genre inspired him to create the world of Zeke Hailey.

Can Justice Save the Earth from Extinction?
Maxine Justice is an ambulance-chasing lawyer desperate for relevance and cash when aliens hire her to represent them before the United Nations. An off-planet consortium wants to heal humanity of every natural disease in exchange for 30% of Earth’s gold reserves.
The deal launches Max to legal stardom and makes her an international target for assassins. New Pharma, Sky Cross, MediCorp—the big medical companies all have good reasons to want Max out of the way. Worse, she discovers her alien clients may be planning something more sinister than anyone has imagined.
Can a lawyer who failed the bar exam three times find some way to save the world from global and interstellar conspiracies? Or will humankind’s future end in a galactic courtroom?

This illustrated nonfiction picture book by child psychologist Dr. Jillian Roberts introduces children to the topics of bodies, body safety and body image through a conversation-based story that begins with an observation at the community pool.
Modesty, privacy and boundaries are discussed, along with how self-image is formed and how some people are more sensitive than others—sometimes at different stages in their lives. Relevant themes around body shaming, body positivity and self-esteem building are explored, with a final call to action empowering children to build their own confidence and speak up when something doesn't feel right.
13
Dr. Jillian Roberts is a child psychologist, author, professor at the University of Victoria and mother of three children. Considered a go-to child psychology expert for journalists, Dr. Roberts is a regular contributor to HuffPost, Global News and CBC. Calm is Dr. Roberts’s debut board book. She lives in Victoria, British Columbia.

But never as deeply, as intensely as this. Claudia has never been in love like this before either. But then, this is her first time with a vampire. The forbidden thirst for blood runs deep in Immy. Aífe marries Lir, a king with four children by his previous wife. Jealous of his affection for his children, the witch Aífe turns them into swans for 900 years.
This retelling of the favourite Irish fairytale ‘The Children of Lir’, is seen from the perspective of Aífe. It is unsettling and dark, feminist and fierce, yet nuanced in its exploration of the guilt of a complex character.
Voiced in Sullivan’s trademark rich, lyrical prose as developed in Tangleweed and Brine – the multiple award-winner which established Sullivan as the queen of witchy YA, which has been awarded the YA Book of the Year in the Irish Book Awards. “No-one writes like Deirdre Sullivan. She is lyrical, poetic and intoxicating.”— Juno Dawson, author of Wonderland "This is a fiercely feminist novel, but it escapes being polemical partly through its lyrical prose and partly through its commitment to empathy and compassion … intellectually pleasing and emotionally devastating." – Claire Hennessy, The Irish Times
13
Deirdre Sullivan is from Galway now living in Dublin and working as a teacher. She has established a reputation as a leading Irish YA author following her hugely praised Needlework, which won the Honour Award for Fiction at the Children’s Books Ireland Awards and was shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards. Her Primrose Leary series was also widely acclaimed; two of the Prim books were shortlisted for the Children’s Books Ireland awards; and the final one, Primperfect, was also shortlisted for the European Prize for Literature.
