Distribution FAQs

What is trade distribution?

As a trade distributor we wholesale to retail bookstores (both independent and chain stores), major online bookstores (including Booktopia, Book Depository and Amazon Australia), and educational and library suppliers. Our role is to handle everything from order processing through to pick, pack and ship, customer service, invoicing and accounts.

Are my books right for trade distribution?

A trade distributor is responsible for selling to trade accounts when you are ready to expand from direct and small scale selling. Not every book is right for the trade distribution model and distribution is not a substitute for building your brand and audience. You also need to ensure that your book/s are of market quality (editing, design and print), barcoded and appropriately priced. If you are unsure whether your book/s are suitable, please contact us for a consultation.

We distribute books across a range of genres and age groups, but our specialty is fiction and non-fiction for children and young adults.

Bookstores, general retail stores, library suppliers, educational suppliers and schools, major online booksellers including Booktopia, Amazon and Book Depository and more.

When should I apply for distribution?

If this is your first title, or if you have titles releasing soon, don't wait until your book is released. The best time to apply for distribution is as soon as you have the publication information ready (ie. title, description, pricing, cover jacket). We submit data to our key partners three months ahead of publication, so it is best to apply well in advance of release. The ability to provide advance notice of publication is crucial to a distribution partnership.
